What is the word processor?

A free, private document editor with a real Word-style ribbon — Home, Insert, Design and Layout tabs over an A4 page with margins, paragraph styles, fonts, pictures, shapes, icons, charts, tables, text boxes, comments, headers, footers and page numbers — then exports to DOCX, PDF, HTML or plain text. It runs entirely in your browser with no account and no upload, and autosaves your work on your device so it's waiting when you return.

How to use Word processor

  1. Write on the page — Type onto the A4 sheet, or import an existing .docx, Markdown, HTML or plain-text file to carry on editing it. Give the document a title at the top, and watch the live word and character count under the page.
  2. Format your text — Use the Home tab for bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, sub/superscript, highlight and text colour; the styles gallery (Normal, No Spacing, Headings, Title, Subtitle, Quote); fonts and sizes, change case, format painter, alignment, line spacing, lists, indents, sorting, paragraph shading and borders, and find & replace (Ctrl+F). The Layout tab adds precise indent and before/after spacing boxes, breaks, line numbers and the ruler.
  3. Insert pictures, shapes, tables and objects — From the Insert tab add a cover page, pictures (or just paste one), shapes, icons, bar, line, pie or doughnut charts built from your own numbers, tables, text boxes, WordArt, a drop cap, a signature line, the date, quick parts such as a table of contents, equations and symbols. Click a picture to resize, float or centre it — the Layout tab's Arrange group adds wrapping, position and rotation. Anchor a comment to any selection and work through them in the side pane; bookmarks and cross-references link one part of the document to another.
  4. Design the whole document at once — The Design tab restyles everything in one click: a theme (fonts plus accent colour), a style set that changes how headings look, separate colour and font sets, and built-in paragraph spacing from Compact to Double. Page Background adds a watermark (Confidential, Draft or your own text), a page colour and page borders. Set as default keeps your choices for the next new document on this device.
  5. Set up the page — The Layout tab sets margins, orientation, paper size, columns and hyphenation, plus a header, footer and page numbers that repeat on every page of the PDF, DOCX and printed output.
  6. Export your document — From the header, download as a Word .docx, a PDF, a self-contained HTML file or plain text. Your document autosaves to this browser as you work.

Frequently asked questions

Is my document uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything you write stays in your browser and is autosaved on your own device — nothing is sent to a server or account. Pictures are stored inside the document itself, downscaled so several photos still fit the browser's storage limit; if a document grows too large to autosave, the tool warns you so you can export a copy.

How is the .docx file created?

The tool builds a valid Word document directly in your browser. The DOCX keeps paragraphs, headings, character formatting (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, sub/superscript, colour, highlight, font and size), alignment, line and paragraph spacing, indents, shading, borders, quotes, lists, tables including merged cells, pictures, charts, header/footer with live page numbers, page breaks and your page setup. Live auto-numbering isn't exported.

Can I open an existing Word file?

Yes. Use Import to load a .docx (embedded pictures included), a Markdown file, an HTML file or plain text, and continue editing with the basic formatting brought across.

Why does the page number on screen always show 1?

The editor is one continuous page flow, so the header and footer preview appears once on screen. Real, per-page numbers are produced where pagination actually exists: in the exported PDF, the DOCX (as a live PAGE field) and when printing.

Does the PDF match the page on screen?

Yes. The PDF is rendered from the same A4 page you're editing, so it keeps your margins, fonts and layout. Header, footer and page numbers are stamped onto every PDF page in a neutral font.

What's the difference from the text editor?

The word processor is a page-layout editor styled as an A4 sheet with rich formatting, pictures, charts and Word/PDF export. The lighter text editor is for plain, distraction-free writing.

Do comments, watermarks and themes survive the export?

Mostly, yes. DOCX carries anchored comments as real Word comments, plus bookmarks, hyperlinks, page borders, line numbering, the page colour, the theme's body font and text boxes (as a single-cell bordered table, which is how a flow-layout reader shows them). PDF stamps the watermark, page border, header, footer and page numbers onto every page. The standalone HTML keeps the theme, watermark and page colour, and each comment rides along as the highlighted text's tooltip. The watermark is the one thing DOCX leaves out.
